Standard terminology is that the most forward pillar is the A pillar, and lettered rearward from there.
So yes, the hinge pillar is the A-pillar and the B-pillar is the lock pillar. On a 4 door car, the B-pillar would be the front door lock pillar and the rear door hinge pillar (unless you're talking about a car that had suicide doors in the rear - 1948 Plymouth comes to mind - my sister fell out of ours when she tried to latch the door on the highway and the wind caught it and jerked her out - sorry for the excursion into left field
) The rear door lock pillar on a sedan would be the C-pillar.
