Tim, do you have an automatic whole house generator that comes on by itself when you lose power? If so, what is the KW output of your setup? And, if you don't mind, the cost? If it's info you don't wish to share I understand.

Hello, Tiny

23 KW Honeywell (exactly the same as the same size Generac unit)
with Mobile LInk and WiFi connections
air cooled

It comes on automatically when power goes off; and, it shuts off when power comes back on.

Please send me a PM with your phone number.
There are few things (maintenance and operating oddities) that I would like to discuss with you.

Tim

I just had a 1600KW whole house Generac installed a few weeks ago. It was about $7000.00.

grin I think it's likely 16KW. 1600KW would be enough to run a hospital & be diesel powered. 16 is plenty for the average home. My home made setup is 7KW continuous and will run my central air. I'm surprised it was only $7K installed. They must have gotten a lot less expensive. Just a couple of years ago just the generator & transfer switch would have cost that much.

Yikes 75 percent of the population of PEI did not have power, half a million people without power in the Atlantic provinces today. Waves were breaking over Peggy's cove lighthouse and destroyed much of the Halifax waterfront. Worst storm seen by many ever. We get power back tommorow midnight hopefully. Hitting Nfld today, they always get wacked by hurricanes.
