I'm painting the cab interior soon and was curious about some details, since the original colors had been changed long ago The interior will be the stock concord gray metallic. I'm wondering about the inside of the glove box lid, same as outside? I painted my steering column and wheel charcoal and was wondering about the horn button. I don't know if the space around the bowtie was painted black or was charcoal like the wheel. Also, I believe the dash was a flat charcoal, but was textured. Has anybody tried a product for texturing and had good results?

In addition, I had to tear out the original paper headliner and hated to do it. But, it was sagging and moldy. I hated it more when I learned that, apparently, no parts supplier duplicates the pattern of the '58 headliner. I don't suppose anybody knows different about a supplier? I wish I'd at least taken a picture of it or made a cast or something.

Truck Shop shows "original style" cardboard headliner (http://www.truckandcarshop.com/trucks47_59/t47_024.html). No idea if they match the original pattern or not - maybe they can further advise. Went out to my original and untouched '58 Apache and the inside of the glove box lid is the same as the outside. My horn button was missing when I got the truck so no idea what color was painted around the bowtie but the re-pop I bought is black. I too am wondering about how best to duplicate the dash texture - mine looks more like it is black rather than charcoal but either would probably work fine.

Thanks on the color of inside of glove box, makes sense it'd be same as outside. I gave up on finding an exact match for the headliner because I don't think it's made. I used a piece of black arctic vinyl, glued it to a thin foam backing and then glued that to the ceiling. 3M Headliner Adhesive in the aerosol can is the real deal, it works awesome. My dash was charcoal and I believe this color can fool people. I thought my original steering wheel was black for many years until I removed it and began to clean it. The material of the steering wheel is actually black, but it appears that the factory just painted it with the charcoal color. As for dash texture, I got a can of 'SEM Texture Coating' in a auto paint shop. It's okay, but it's a fine texture like sandpaper. The closest thing I see to the original texture might actually be rustoleum stone textured aerosol paint.

All the TF steering wheels I have been around are a dark gray color, as is the parking brake handle, the steering column etc. They all match in shade.
The Cameo's are different though. They are the only ones that usually have body colors inside, but the top of the dash is always textured dull never gloss.

Here is a pic of my '58 interior. This is as close to stock as I have seen for restored.

Thanks for the pictures. You reminded me of another question: it looks like your cigar lighter knob is chrome. I'm now wondering if those were exclusively chrome. I went to the trouble of modifying a black knob for mine. My interior will be near identical to yours. The charcoal color for the wheel, column and ebrake handle isn't as dark but same otherwise.

Not sure if it came that way from the factory, but I always remember it being chrome.

Nice! I don't remember seeing the shifting diagram on the dash before, I thought it went on the glove box door. I'm not that far yet.
