The Panel is stunning. I don't like the mirrors. Chrome would be better.

Stuman-- Ive seen that cream which Phat's photo shows on the 39/40 body-- with brown fenders and running boards which really did look sharp. [ 01-17-2002: Message edited by: bznhafdzn ]

Phat, on the panel you say notice the nice splash apron. I have a 54 and the apron looks like mine, but on mine the license plate holder is in front of the parking/turnsignal light. What are the differences? I wonder if mine is truly a 54 apron.
I have always wondered why the license plate was there.

Is that the only difference? So I guess my 54 has a non original one cause you cant see the marker light at all.

The more I see '54's..... The more I think I want one!!! Just that little bit different, and I think less popular than 47-53=more affordable. P.S. Nice photos, Phat-I can appreciate the time and effort put into a resto, but RODS RULE! That little black 54 (primer?) covered in snow, hugging the pavement, on aluminum wheels-oh man DRIVE THE WHEELS OFF! Wannabe

Here is a pix of a very nice truck but the owner used the newer (cheap way out) c-10 front clip.Too bad the truck was done nicely. Notice how he used offset wheels and skinny tires to hide it(it did not work) Tim and I both looked at this one in NY

54 and 55s are more valuable than the other years. Parts are also more expensive, there just aren't as many of them as the other years.
A fairly nice stock 55 went for $8500 on Ebay yesterday.

I just found a panel like the beige one posted above. Here is a pic

Hey Phat, What should I do about narrowing my front wheel width? 225/50R15 BFG's on 8" centerlines with a 4.5" backspace. Bolted to a 1981 firebird sub frame. Narrowed A-arms? How do I build a 4-link rear? I need specs. rear tires are 305/50R15's on 10" centerlines. It dosn't quite messure up to those other pics , but I'm tryin to get it there! slowly. Doug 53 GMC CHOPPED N SHAVED

Get a narrower rim to start with. I see you have centerlines and it may not be possible to get just what you need. Try steel wheels from a buddy and figure what backspacing you need. With a 14" wheel you can get a 6" width with about 4 1/2" backspace and not quite as much on a 15". Lot less expensive than narrowed a-arms.
