I've installed T5 in my 42 3/4 ton Chevy (running a 1962 235 6 cyl). While this is a major improvement over the OE Muncie 4 speed, it still leaves some things to be desired. The 3/4 ton's stock 4.55 R&P set makes 1st gear pretty useless although, the truck is far better at highway speeds. I'd like to swap out the R&P set to something closer to 3.90 or 4.10, in order to take care of the low speed acceleration. Can anyone tell me if they've done this in an Art Deco 3/4 ton? I did read the tech article about the 1955-62 pumpkin swap but, why change the whole pumpkin & mod the driveshaft just to swap the R&P ratio? If a replacement gear set in the 3.90 or 4.10 ratio is available for the 41-46 3/4 ton, I'd sure like to know about where to get a set. Thanks for any help or sources you have.

Running a T-5 in a 3/4 ton defeats the purpose of having a truck, so you might as well install some type of passenger car rear axle, also. High ratio gears for your stock rear end don't exist.

I have all of the OE driveline on the shelf. I just got tired of being limited to 45 mph. BTW, the T5 came out of an S10, and it serves my purposes quite well. I'm not pulling stumps anyway.

Found a 4:11 ratio pumpkin from late 60s that dropped right into my 53 3600, not sure if same holds true for your 42. Late 60s 3/4 tons with automatic trans came with the 4:11s.
Best of luck
