Need a rear axle swap or just the 3rd member? I hear this is a good way to go! I will find out soon as I recently bought a 55 3100 axle

the frames on the 58/59 are longer than 55-57 ones. the rails can be shortened for the earlier years. just something to keep in mind if the intent is to use this 59 frame on a 55-57 truck.

For the longest time I was looking for an axle which is on this frame. I read that you can pull the third member out and put in Tourque tube axle converting it to open.

People may want to read (because I’m not an expert):

No bolt pattern changes, no worry abt width, great gear ratio when combined w/ some T5 trannies( like one I have that is waiting) for keeping these 6 bangers in the rpm range ....

Never thought abt frame swap so thanks for adding for those who might consider!

Take a closer look at the last 2 photos, this is a Spicer 44 axle. doesn't have a 3rd member. Used mostly in GMC.
