I have posted 4 possible positions of the spring on the 1946 door check.
Which is the correct one?
What is the purpose of the spring?
Photos are of the left door check.
Thank you in advance.
Harold

I'm no help Harold. I just went out to confirm my 41 doesn't even have a spring there. And, I don't see how creating tension on that part of the door check would assist in keeping the door in its opened position.
Sorry.

Victor,
Thanks for checking.I understand these springs are rare at best due to their location they easily rust out and fall apart. I have several of the rusted variety I have pulled from other trucks. One end tab or the other is generally gone. The ones I have came off a parts truck and the truck I am restoring.
