I guess im supposed to introduce myself? I am an ex professional mechanic, now im a crane operator. Reside in Nebraska for the last few years. Originally from southern California. Have had a few classic project vehicles (67 dodge dart/64 f250). My wife and i recently inherited a 1950 gmc 1/2 ton. I plan on keeping it mostly stock... mostly. Came with a 216.. whoever put it together oversized the cylinders and put stock pistons and rings in it. Thing ran great with an oil pan full of gas and a solid stream of blowby. Suprised it ran at all... anyways when pulling it apart the front cam bearing took part of the block with it. So now i have a 235 full pressure being machined. Have a cliffords 6=8 dual carb/intake and headers for it. Also had plans to put a 283 that im putting together in it along with ifs but the i found the 235 and threw all my plans off. Maybe get an old something or other to rat rod and put the 283 in... anyways ill be asking alot of questions. Dont know much about the old sixes. Didnt even know they were really a thing until we got this truck. Thanks in advance for any help.
