put the transmission back in my 58, with a ranger torque splitter in front of it!! Now to shorten the driveshaft and hook park brake and stuff back up!

Installed a carb insulator on the 49 GMC's 350 to improve hot restarts and idling, 99.5% improvement.

I'll take some later this evening. I didn't take any before I slid it in but, I can take some with it sitting in place, the floor plate is not in yet and there is a lot of room under a big bolt so crawling under there with a camera is not a big deal! Moving that thing around is a bugger though with them bolted together, they weigh over 200 #.

here are some pics of the overdrive in place. Sorry I did not get any with it sitting on the dolly out of the truck. Ranger Torque Splitter (overdrive) sits in front of the trans, between the trans and bellhousing. Mine is an older cast iron case unit. It moved the trans back 6 5/8".

Walked by it on my way to work. Does that count?...lol... It's currently non-op status, but I need to pay DMV to get it back on the road.

I have an aluminum unit waiting to be put in my '65 when I switch it over to the SM420 and the 3.54 Dana 60. Right now it's 4.57, three on the tree with Borg Warner Overdrive. I haven't disliked the 3 speed setup enough yet to switch it over to the SM420/D60. I ran the SM420/D60 in my other '65 and it was a blast to drive with those 3.54's in the rear end.

I fixed the cowl vent assembly. I had to make a bracket out of steel with a dremel, drill, and a bunch of filing. I put it all together and it works like a champ!
Probably hasn't been functional in a long time.
