Are they the three piece rims? I'm desperate for one of those, and might even consider driving out there to pick one up. Although it's quite a drive from the middle of Missouri!

Tim

I am currently digging back in to a 1953 3800 (one ton) with a nine foot bed. I've owned it since 1979, and drove it until 1982 (or so). My wife got me involved in restoring it back in 2002, got the body removed and the frame redone, then things came up. Now I am retired and starting again. If anyone is interested I have photos on Imagur ( https://timwhiteblues.imgur.com/ ). I live way back in the woods in the Ozarks on 40 acres at the end of a 2 1/2 mile private road.

Tim ,

The 17 " x 5.0 " , 8 lug Rims are 3 - piece Rims with lock rings made by Kelsey Hayes for GM .

These are NOT what is known as widow makers .

They were made for 1946 to 1954 Chevy & GMC 3/4 & 1 Ton trucks

and could be ordered as an option .

I do believe the earlier 17 " x 5 " Rims from '46 to '50 had the ROUNDED outer rim ring

& the '51 to '54 had the what I call the FLAT outer rim ring .

The outer rim ring is an extremely RARE part to find in GM NOS .

I've only been able to find two of them in nos .

The Locking Clamp Ring is also an extremely RARE part to find in GM NOS .

I've only been able to find two of them in nos.

I'd cut the tires off first to examine the inside condition of the rims .

Rims that are badly rusted on the inside are Dangerous & Worthless IMO .

Rim lock rings that are damaged , distorted , or bent , should not be re - used

The seller needs to dis-mount the tires from the rims to be able to show the condition

of the inside of the rims .

It could be a costly & a long trip from central MO . to Kansas

only to find out they are junk .

Hey Dirtball,
I'm interested, do you think these rims are use-able ? I live in Missouri and I only need five and could maybe get one to Bluesman so he gets what he needs as well. What's your thoughts, sir ?

Thanks for making these available!

Ronnie
