Has anyone installed Original 1954 3/4 Ton Hubcaps onto the Dexstar , AM20766, 16" x 6" Rims ? If yes, what is required to do this retro-fit ?

There are several ways to adapt the original hubcaps to fit the modern rims. This link is just off the top of my head....

Your wheels have the bumps to hold the hubcaps on. My wheels also have the bumps. I made correct era appearing hubcaps using 1970s era caps and repro caps.

Gord, those are beautiful. So far the problem I've run into is the depth of the hubcap being the issue on the 3/4 truck due to the size and length of the wheel hubs. Not sure what direction to go in now.

Years ago, I posted a description of how I made those. However, it seems that many of my older posts have vanished. I still have the pictures, so I can re-post. My rims are 15" - not sure if the donor caps fit both 15 and 16" rims. Anyway, the mating of the two caps makes the hubcap deeper so it's allows for more space for the hubs.

Gord if you would write it up as a Tech Tip and submit it directly to editor@stovebolt.com (John Milliman) it can be kept here forever. It would be a great addition to our Tech Tips section.

Hi Martin,

I re-posted it last night here: https://www.stovebolt.com/ubbthread...e-vintage-hubcaps-fit-modern-wheels.html

Tech tip? Well, it's just one solution to a problem as Mother.Trucker wrote above.
