Looks like my over drive needs a new tail shaft bushing. There's a drip drip going on and the play seems too excessive. Can this be replaced without pulling the transmission? Will the miller 6957 tool pull this bushing? What about other bushing pullers?

I believe you would create more work for yourself trying to replace the bushing in that manner.
There is not much space to get a puller in there. The more important issue would be installing the new bushing in place.
It is very thin and can get distorted easily, in which case the driveshaft yoke would bind up and you would have to disassemble everything anyway. Even when installed in a bare case, they tend to "shrink" and sometimes need to be cleaned up.

Thanks Fred, So out comes the trans. There's a shop not far from me that does these. I guess I'll take it to them.

They should replace the solenoid seal, OD shifter shaft seal, and the rear seal while it is out.
