Hello Chris, I’d be glad to meet you once you’ve moved to San Antonio and settled in a bit. My next major project on my 1950 1/2 ton is to swap out the original 216 with a donor I’ll be picking up in Austin on 29 June. Sometime soon afterwards I hope to have it in a auto repair shop I have made contact with so that he can do the swap. The mechanic offered to let me help so that I can have a hand in the project and also learn a few things. If you’re settled in by that time and would like to join me, I’m sure he wouldn’t mind you turning a few wrenches in the shop with us. I’ll keep you posted, and you do the same.

Swapping that is pretty easy! I blew my original one! Still running the new to me 216 over the last 3,000 miles or so (trip meter is off). Definitely, I will be in town on the 27th to move into house and then going on a 10 day vacation. I should be fully operational by mid July.

If I have your cell # I can call or text you to let you know when the engine swap will take place. I still work full time, so I’ll probably only be able to work on it on the weekend. I guess there’s a possibility I could also take a vacation day on a Friday to work on it. My cell is 210-376-1202. Shoot me a text.
