Noticed a couple vendors selling the mesh only to replace the existing mesh in the no-oil bath type air cleaner. Wonder if anyone has tried this out and what's your opinion. I have an original/used filter but the mesh is looking tired and I was thinking of getting some to use. Thanks

Get some copper scrubbers at the store. They work good & look sharp.

They say money can't buy happiness. It can buy old Chevy trucks though. Same thing.

The oil-wetted copper element for the standard Spark Arrestor air cleaner that Jim Carter sells works quite well.

There are actually a couple different looks for these, a steel mesh that was available in the late 30’s early 40’s and the copper mesh type that seemed more common after the war? Notice that boxes both show the passenger type canister, also notice one with a circle pattern and one with diamonds.

Another version with circle pattern and the horsehair type material.

I did as Tim suggested and instead of consuming my NOS I used the pot scrubbers.

Hi Brad, lets see more on your NOS washer bottle and related appurtenances (nozzles/foot pump), if you have time.

Thanks Steve

VERY NICE, as usual, Brad.

Were there dates on any boxes?
Were the part numbers the same for all years? (for the cleaner assembly & for the mesh inserts?)

Your original "documentation" is an invaluable and unique asset to Stovebolt.com.

Thank you,

Tim

Was that the windshield washer unit for 47-53 (and, maybe earlier - looks like maybe from 1940-1953)?

1954/55st had a different foot pedal (and, maybe a different jar), and a capability to automatically activate a 1954/55st truck's optional electric wiper.

Thanks, again, Brad

Tim the data books would indicate this version is the accessory for 1947-49. The version I have appears to be correct for 1950 thru 1953. They are very easy to date as the glass bottle has a two digit code cast in the bottle bottom, mine shows 50.

Then as described the 54-55 1st Series has a different version as shown. This has two nozzles and the redesigned foot pump.

Some good detail here on the installation.

Tim,

To follow-up the boxes do not have a date or part number on them, I would guess these changes could have been running over time?
