 66 stepside long bed fitment

I am fitting my new bed on 66 LWB frame. Stock configuration. Bought bed pieces as a used 55-66 bed. Once assembled and mocked up on frame, I notice now that the rear cross sill bolt pockets do not reach the frame. They fall off the back of the frame about 1 in when I get the cross members aligned with frame mounting brackets. I notice (now) that the vendors list a 63-66 rear cross sill part separate from 60-62. Can anyone confirm that the 63-66 rear cross sill makes up this difference. In that the bolt pockets are offset deeper from the cross piece?

You probably have purchased a 57-59 bed. On those the rear sill brackets are about an inch shorter than the 66 brackets that you need. The brackets are easily replaced with the correct brackets. Mar-K has replacement brackets or you can use the ones off the original bed. If the bed is 57-59, you also need to check the fender location, as the earlier bed had the fenders located farther forward on the bedside than the 66. Also on the earlier bed all the bed strip and bed mounting bolts are in different spots than the 66. There are a lot of subtle differences in the beds even though they all appear to be the same.
Good luck on the project.

Yes I was aware of the angle strips and location of cross sills. Was not aware of the rear cross sill. Does the rear sill bracket force the bed to sit higher than the 57-59? With the 57-59 cross sill I have 1 1/4 blocks clamped to the frame. Did put up a fender and running board today and it looks OK, but did not check the other side in case the bed sides are mismatched. Thanks for that advice. Cut off old bed brackets and they are not redeemable. Did not see the brackets on the Mar-K website. You suggest I should look closer?

You will need to call Mar-K sales to buy the brackets, they are not on the website. Look at the picture of rear sill part number 100717 to see what the Mar-K bracket looks like.It is about an inch longer and about 3/4" taller than the earlier bracket, and yes the 66 bed sits higher off the frame than the earlier bed. I believe about 3/4" taller. 4 X 4 may be different, we don't see many of those and may be some gaps in our information. Let me know if these brackets seem right for your truck.
