Have any of you vets on the site been contacted by these guys? I'm currently in the pipeline for possibly making a VA disability claim for Agent Orange exposure while in Southeast Asia. I keep getting robocalls from this outfit claiming they're a contractor for the VA, and trying to set me up for an "evaluation" appointment. I have a strong suspicion it's a scam, and some of the research I've done online seems to confirm that.

It's a good thing that some veterans' health issues are being sublet to private practice- - - - -a chronic problem I've had with sinus infections for 20-something years seems to have been fixed by an ENT specialist the VA referred me to in the course of getting hearing aids. However, this "evaluation" thing doesn't seem to pass the smell test. I'm all for us vets getting better and faster attention from the VA, but it infuriates me to think there might be a bunch of scam artists trying to piggyback on us to ride a government gravy train!

I suggest you save yourself a lot of time & possibly $$ by going through the attached organization.

I helped my brother-law file an Agent Orange claim and these folks were very helpful.

They may be closed due to the Gov't shutdown but you can a least get started.

I've already got a legitimate claim started with the VA- - - -I'm just getting bogus-sounding inquiries from what appears to be scam artists, probably from the VA database getting hacked. One in particular was a call from a guy with a heavy east Indian accent who hung up abruptly when I asked to speak with someone I could actually understand.

The phone companies could rid us of most/all of those spammers/bogus-callers, but, most likely, that would stop a significant income stream?

Jerry, unfortunately the Government has chosen to outsource some Veterans services. This particular outfit has very poor ratings from current and past employees. They are given rather unrealistic quotas for the day and thus they push the clients (Vets) to inter into agreements with timelines that may be unreasonable. When you miss your deadline the company writes you off and the VA will give you the hardline routine. Poor customer service reviews. Proceed with caution.

BTW, I am a big supporter of us Veterans being allowed to go to any healthcare provider for service and the Government footing the bill, much the same as Medicare. Eliminate the VA Hospitals and up the level of service.

Use the DAV or your county Veteran Service Organization (VSO) [i think thats what it means].

also, research the symptoms that they are considering and try to have documentation that you have been seeking medical assistance on them.

Y'all deserve every dime you can get from the VA.

Unfortunately, the local Vets' service officer is a political hack who's not worth the cost of a round of ammo to make him assume room temperature. I do have a couple of good sources within reasonable driving distance and most of the folks here know what my reaction to getting ignored or snubbed is likely to be!
LOL!

After playing telephone tag with an endless loop of voicemails, I finally got a call back from a real person. I cancelled today's appointment and told them not to reschedule it. Tomorrow, I have an appointment with the real VA representative in Nashville, apparently for the same interview the private contractors were trying to do. I've also got a call in to my congressman, requesting that he investigate what's going on.

I pretty much treat any email or phone call from anyone that I don't know as a scam. If I don't recognize your phone number, leave a message, because I usually don't answer it.
