Have always wondered this so i decided why not ask. I noticed in looking at the 54,s that there are two different style of dash panels for the 54,55 first series of these trucks is there a reason.

If the vehicle ID starts with Z, for the 54/55(early) GMC, the Z-series GMC trucks should have the same dash (different from the early New Design GMC dash).

What is your Vehicle serial number on the door jamb tag?

- If you have to stomp on your foot-pedal starter, either you, or your starter, or your engine, has a problem.
- The 216 and early 235 engine are not "splash oilers" - this is a splash oiler.

Sorry, KEVINSKI, I’ll try to remember to look tomorrow at my 54/55 “Z-series” Canadian Chevrolet/GMC truck manual.

Hmmm

Was that possibly the same reason why Chevrolet changed their dash in 54/55st?

While you muse/speculate over this - do you think GMC & Chevrolet went to two different dashes in 54/55st just to try out different styles of dash (after having similar dashes from 47-53).

Speculate on . . . I’ll put on my galoshes.

Thats got to be it what other reason could there be. Makes you wonder if you were buying a truck back in the day and had to order one wich dash would show up in the truck when it arrived.
