Merry Christmas and we are so happy to have our power back on after a 4 day outage. Almost was about to have turkey sushi. Time to get a generator, because I am thinking this will be the new weather pattern.

When we moved to Shangri La in '12, we learned that we were at the end of the power line. The PO left us
a 7000 watt Coleman with a twin Vangaurd engine. We have to plug it in, turn the key and throw the transfer switch,
but it's saved our butts a couple every year since we've been here.
When this one craps out, we're definitly going for an auto start natural gas/gasoline Generac whole house system.

After living near the Outer Banks, NC for a year, we decided to get an almost whole-house Generac/Honeywell auto-start electrical backup system (big propane tank in the ground).

This allows us to have our daughter’s family stay with us when Hurricanes threaten her on the Outer Banks.

We also plumbed the gas lines to feed a fireplace, and the (formerly) bottled gas outdoor grill.

It has come on briefly a few times this year. We get an email notification when it turns on, and shuts off. That is especially nice if we are out of town (or, if it happens over-night).

Power has already gone out a couple of times this season, our portable generator sure came in handy.

Merry Christmas from me too!

Got my Christmas shopping done in October and had to leave my heavy "Santa Bag" laying around the place till yesterday, Dec 23, then took it to my son's place.

All that's left now to get over with wink is Christmas dinner at his place with the family.

Thank gawd the expense only comes once a year, but Merry Christmas to all of you anyway!! wave
