Hi guys , are the 216 and 235 dipper conrods the same length?

I have a '48 235 that needs one crank journal ground and I have a set of 216 rods that have been resized for shells .

Hoping I can use the 216 rod in the 235 .

Both dipper engines .

Thanks .

In 1948 Chevrolet made the rods narrower than the earlier rods, but 216 and 235 Babbitt rods are the same

Rod length, journal, and wrist pin diameter are the same, and I've used a belt sander to narrow the early rods to run in the later engines. Just be sure he dippers stay centered by removing the same amount from both sides of the big ends. Longer stroke crankshafts are accommodated in several ways to keep the pistons from sticking out of the top of the block- - - -make the rods shorter, move the wrist pins closer to the top of the piston, or make the block taller. Chevy did it the hard way, by casting a different block when they built the longer-stroke 235. Another example would be the Ford 351 Windsor with a block an inch taller than the 302.
