I have been searching around for information on the quantity of cross sills a 1951 3100 needs. I am ready to order parts. American Classic Truck Parts a front, center and rear sills. It seems to me there needs to be a cross sill before and behind the frame rise over the differential.

Is there a web site that illustrates the assembly of the beds on these pickup?

Many thanks in advance
Walt

Walt--there were 4 on my 49. When you do the bed take it off and install upside down, otherwise you will have left over parts. I used ss and have extra bolts, nuts and washers.Bill

Don't buy ANOTHER front cross sill. What you need are one front, two centers, and a rear. The two in the middle are identical, but the front and rear are unique.

My original question stems from a lack the holes for a cross sill before the frame hump. See link ---> http://www.woodlandsoftwaresolutions.com/additional_images/cross_sill_detail.jpg
I don't remember how it came apart. The bed to frame bolt kit I bought includes 2 long bolt for the forward mount and 6 bolt for everything from there on back. Its a little confusing.

From the "center" cross sill to "front" cross sill (pointed to by the green arrows) seems like a long way to span 3/4" thick wood planks and have it carry 1/2 ton.

As suggested above, look at Mar-K’s website. Diagrams and specifications are shown there. They know everything there is to know about a 1/2 ton bed.🛠

The second cross sill is aligned with the third hole back in the angle strips/bed strips. It just does not have a bed to frame bolt through it. It sits on the frame but is not bolted to the frame at that point. Look again at the photos of Brad Allen's beautiful truck. Also note the wear pattern on your frame at that spot. That is where the second cross sill goes.
