It is in fairly good shape. The stainless steel strip is good, as well as both ends. The splines on the handle are good and so are the threads that hold the handle on. Both the worm gear and main gear rotate freely. The problem is that one end on the die cast housing has been wobbled out a bit, so the gears don’t always make contact.

The way I fixed the oval hole was to drill it out and press in a brass bushing. I also epoxyed it for added securement.

I was going to use the tech tip from Kip to repair it, and then I happened to find another one that didn't need any work. Your suggestion/fix sounds like it would work just fine. Thanks.
