would like part number 3689223 which has a drive gear of 4 teeth and a driven gear of 12 teeth.
But will consider anything you have for a sm420 because I can use an adapter on the outside of the trans.
Thanks in advance,
Steve

My GMC master parts book doesn't list that number. Is this for the 3100? Do the 3/4T and 1/2T use the same gears?

They do but the number of teeth changes based on rear end ratio and tire combination. This number is for a 1/2 ton with stock tires. At this point I would settle with any combo just so I can bolt the yoke on. Then I could use an exterior speedometer ratio adaptor.

Ok. I have a set but can't get rid of them until I know if I can find a complete yoke assembly for a 1/2T. I'm waiting on multiple people to check their hoards. I'll let you know if mine come available.

ok thanks, but Im a little confused on why yours will not work. The SM420 that I'm using came out of a 54 3/4 ton and the yoke and ball mount will fit my 1/2 ton. Are you sure yours was not out of a 1 ton?

Send me your email and I'll launch you off some pics tomorrow.

I don't have a set. I found the u-joint/yoke setup I needed and had to swap my gears over.

Thanks for checking, that is pretty much what everyone does. I just finished up my 3sp rebuild, I replaced bearings/sychros and one gear, it had a chipped tooth. The trans feels brand new now. I still want to run a sm420, I opened up a sm420 and now can see why I want to run one. These transmissions are substantial, I dont think you could hurt one in a 3100, talk about built.

The same SM-420's were used in the 2-1/2 ton trucks from the factory...they are bullet proof in a 1/2 ton truck!

Have you contacted Novak to see if they have the parts you need?
