Welcome to the club! Check the carb for an open vacuum port, 1200 at idle is pretty high and the PO May have raised the idle because they missed a vacuum leak.

I live in Fredericksburg a little to the south. Looking forward to meeting you and spinning a wrench....

Almost forgot, I am not the smartest, my garage isn’t the cleanest, doesn’t have great heat but she gets warm enough, always have beer or gentlemen jack ready to go for visitors.
