The iCloud photo library?

I don’t use the cloud library. In my case these would be on the phone itself.

Anybody have a remedy for this?

Best I can tell the iphone is storing photos as a JPG file. So the error about file type, doesn't make any sense.

JW51,

Send the photo to me in email.

I'll save it, determine the extension type, and try to post it here (without converting the file).

You still use the address in your profile?

I think I might have received an email message from you, JW51

I received a photo this morning with no ID information and not message - just one attachment. I do not open/read that type of message until I know who sent it. You do not have an email address in your profile here. Please PM to me your email address. I will not disclose it to anyone.

Without opening the email message, I can determine that the attached image has a .JPG extension. After I get the PM from you, I will try to attach that image here.

Thanks, Tim

The image was around 1 MB in size.
I decreased the size to around 720x1024 - under 300 KB.

I cannot attach the photo in this forum.
I'll post in the General Truck Talk forum.

added later: it attached with no problem.

I think the main problem with posting photos is the lack of patience when reading the Image Posting Policy, or not reading it at all. It clearly states the size the photos have to be in order to post. Lots of folks just skip right over that part and try to post full size photos and when they won't go through, they just give up. I, for one, still have not mastered the resizing part but I do know it has to be done. Those using Cell Phones as their main form of communication are currently at a disadvantage because they can't see the Image Posting Policy and have no clue the procedures to follow. Just some observations from the front lines!

Thanks, Tim. What device did you post that from? I failed to send you an appropriately sized file. But I have an app that shrinks them and its allowed me to post here from iPhone in the past. The reason I started the thread was the sudden change and an error that spoke to an issue other than file size.

Not trying to be a malcontent. The photo posting feature is an awesome enchancement. Just trying to figure out what I’m doing wrong. Posting from a phone is going to be standard business for many of us.

An old MacOS laptop.

I have not tried to post an image from an iPad or iPhone. I do not know how to do that (and, I do not want to know).

But, I have emailed images from those devices via email for storing in long-term storage - I get asked to choose a size of the images that I want to mail.

After much trial and error, I think I have a process that works from iPhone. It’s pretty convoluted and someone can probably figure out a different way.

*Shrink file in app called “image size” and save back to photo library.
* Convert file to .png in app called “image convert” and save back to photo library (still can’t figure out why iPhone jpg images won’t load as such).

Example in the tool chest forum under “valve adjusting tool” thread.
