A veteran - whether active duty, retired, national guard, or reserve - is someone who, at one point in his or her life, wrote a blank check made payable to The 'United States of America', for an amount of "up to and including my life."

Pain is part of life; misery is an option.

I had a friend years ago that stuttered .. he taught me some how to play the guitar ,when he sang he did not stutter.. and some times when he got really stuttering he would just up and say "Ah, Skip It" he knew he was being funny and my friends and myself would either help him out ,,but never did we make fun of him ..

Had a mechanic that worked for me that stuttered to the point of having a speech impediment and was also dyslexic. One of the most brilliant men I've ever known plus a great sense of humor. He couldn't read a shop manual so I would read it to him ONE TIME. From that time on NONE of us had to read it, we could just ask John. Some words would really kill him so naturally we would spring them on him as happened at lunch when one of the guys asked him about a bottle of Worcestershire sauce. His answer (with much stuttering) was "woo woo shur shur; STEAK SAUCE". With John around we didn't need a phone directory or a calculator.

The man that overhauled my MGA back in the early 70's could not read or write but could fix anything. He worked for the local Olds dealer.
