I have all my body pieces stripped to bare metal. I have all original sheet metal and it is without rust. The question I have is the tail gate and front bed panel has quite a few dents and was wondering if any of you have purchased repopped bed parts and if so was it pretty straight or was there body work to be done on them too? I am not building a show piece but want it looking nice, and am looking at some labor intensive pieces there to get nice looking.

I bought the front panel and tailgate from LMC for my 51 3100. Both fit perfect.

'Labor intensive' is an understatement on the bed sides. The insides were no problem, cause it's all flat surface, but the outsides, under the rail and around the stake pockets, were really fun. But, they got done, and then you look back at it a week later, and say, that wasn't that bad.

Classicparts.com bed front and tailgate fit very well and look nice. The spotwelds look too neat compared to the originals, but I am not complaining about that.

My GMC tailgate fit very nicely, but I home built my box and can't verify that it would fit a stock bed perfectly. It was from Mar-K via a Canadian distributor. I'm extremely happy with it.

I bought a replacement tailgate. It fit nice and I had to do nothing to it. It does have the dimples where it was spot welded and a lot of people like to fill and level them. I did not, if you look at the original they did not worry about that type of detail.

Mar-K has a bit higher prices but they are a member here and they provide quality products and good service.

I will second the recommendation for Mar-K. I purchased an entire bed from Mar-K. My orignal bed had been used like a work truck. Would have been far to labor intensive to repair them. Everything looked like the orignal. All the panels fit perfectly. I would highly recommend them them to anybody that is thinking of purchasing new bed parts for an AD Truck.
