Just got off the phone with AC Delco customer service discussing the quality of their products in the past few years. I have noticed the quality of their spark plugs and oil filters has diminished drastically. Their customer service representative informed me that these products along with some others are no longer manufactured in the U.S. The spark plugs and oil filters use to be manufactured in Flint, Michigan. A few years ago AC Delco decided to close this plant, level it and move the manufacturing overseas. This is a real sad state of affairs especially when a GOOD quality product suffers from inferior workmanship and cheaper materials. I find this completely unacceptable, but what can be done?

Careful, this thread could get political really quick. There are websites that list American made goods. Don't know if any auto parts are listed.

I once got all bummed out about DeWitt Nebraska. That's where ViseGrips were invented, and the factory was built, and families grew up working. Then Stanley-Rubbermaid bought it from the heirs and moved it all to China. Then, this year, the factory was bought. SK Tools are still made in USA. The more people who refuse to buy cheep junk, the more jobs will stay local.

Not trying to start a political firestorm...just stating that these companies that have moved overseas or below the Rio Grande are making inferior products. Guess the all mighty dollar is at work again. I miss the ol' days of quality made products that last!

You would like to think since the cost over seas is so much less than here that they would at least use a good material to make a quality product..... since they are already making more money.. GREED GREED GREED

Vise Grip's also, made more like the Harbor Freight tools now a days. The old ones I've had for half century are still not warped or sprung. The new one is really cheesy flimsy junk.
