hi all thanks for letting me join you. I am in need of some info regarding what has been used to replace the 2 piece neoprene rear main seal in a 1957 235 cid. I have been told and it was confirmed by a tech rep with Federal-Mogul that Felpro has discontinued the 2 piece seal that they had for the 55-62 235\261 engines and have not replaced it with anything but a rope seal. I tried to use the rope and could not get it to fit in the "V" grove that the old neoprene seal came out of, no how-no way. The rope is just to large in diameter to get down in the grove. when I did get in (I thought) and I put the bearing cap on, the crank would not turn, too much pressure from the seal.
the old Felpro part number is BS13363 for the seal kit, I can find no cross reference to another manufacturer and the tech guy said that it was not superseded or replaced with another part, just not made anymore. just wondering what someone out there may know or has done in this case. any input would be really helpful. thanks in advance.

If you don't have to fix it, you're not driving hard enough!

I know this guy would have one if you can't find one. He is in Canada but he is a great source. Gasket City

Patrick's carries the Best gasket that Pre '68 Dave mentioned above.

There is a typo on the part number in the Patrick's catalog for the part. It is listed as 45195 instead of 4519S.

Looks like Advanced Auto Parts & Auto Zone has the Fel Pro BS13363.

What are the dates or codes on the 235 engine that reflect a change from rope gasket to neoprene. I thought all 235 blocks required special machining to accept a neoprene rear main seal?....Mr. Langdon on his site comments trying to install this seal by just dropping the crank has a zero chance of working?
