Tex passed away on March 10 , 2016 . His username on this forum was 'old stovebolter ' . He was an infrequent visitor here because of various community projects he was always involved in . He was a retiree from the fire department . He rose to the rank of lieutenant during his career . He also retired from the US Navy Reserve and spent his active duty time aboard a ship which participated in many operations including Vietnam . He was a college graduate . He never met a stranger and could talk for hours on most any subject . He leaves behind a wife , two sons and two grandsons . He also leaves behind a 1951 Chevrolet 3100 truck having owned it for many years . He loved to ' tinker ' with it and drove it every year to the Spring Rod Run in Pigeon Forge , Tennessee. Because the truck was totally stock , it would take him 8 1/2 hours one way to reach the Pigeon Forge area . He would drive on the back roads as much as possible ,staying off the interstates unless necessary . We were USN shipmates , friends for 50 yrs.+ and I definitely will miss him !

RIP Tex. Hope the family keeps the "Bolt" in the family.

Oldblue,

Well, thanks for letting us know. That was a nice piece you wrote about him.

Hope one of the sons will keep the old truck. I am sure it is one of the great memories he has left with his family.
