Welcome to our season annual Veterans' Day forum! We will keep it up all month of November.

Feel free to start a new post (probably the better idea) or pull up an old one. I didn't want to remove the old posts. There still are some interesting reading, photos and videos in there.

Let us know if you and your Stovebolt will be participating in any Veterans Day activities this year!

Thanks,

Peg

As we were cleaning out dad's house after him living there 60 years, I found an old thank you letter for his years of service to the Dutch military, 1945-1948. He had also signed up in 1937 for several years. We have some photos of him serving in Indonesia, sitting on a BMW motorbike. He still remembers all this stuff.

A veteran - whether active duty, retired, national guard, or reserve - is someone who, at one point in his or her life, wrote a blank check made payable to The 'United States of America', for an amount of "up to and including my life."

Pain is part of life; misery is an option.

Well, we are 10 days into December, so I think that means November is over. I'll "box up" this forum until next year come Sunday. If there's any itel you want to get from the posts, you might want to get it soon.

Thanks for all who posted and participated. This is always a great forum.

I have a couple of photos of my Dad in his uniform from WW2. He was a Mess Sergeant. He sure could make a mean peach cobbler.
