I think they are #57. I don't know of any that are brighter. Maybe the rheostat in the light switch is bad.
They say money can't buy happiness. It can buy old Chevy trucks though. Same thing. [url=http://www.stovebolt.com/gallery/capito%20george%201956.html] 1972 Chevy c10 Cheyenne Super

These may not help your "bright" issues (usually something else besides bulb, as you mention) but I'm using them. They work & fit well for me. Brad

Found some of my problem. Some time in the past (AKA one of my "cool"ideas},i installed blue tinted bulbs.I have owned this truck since 1984,it has gone thru many changes over the years.I got married 16 years ago,and other priorities caused it to be neglected. Now with a new engine in it,and me hitting the 50 year mark this year,i am trying to get it more roadworthy, and probably a little more original also. Thanks for your help.I may consider leds, but do not drive it much at night.

Try THIS method. It helps brighten the stock bulbs. LED lights work good too and then you don't have take your cluster apart. Just my $1.98.

Thanks for the idea.I painted inside my tail light housing silver and made a world of difference with them.I plan on replacing my instrument cluster with a non deluxe one (like original,i have added a custom deluxe unit) later and will remember this.
