I lost my dad in 2012 to complications from leukemia. I hated when the doctor gave my dad an "expiration date" by saying he had two years - he lasted six! I'm sorry to hear about your wife. Prayers are in the air to you and yours!

Never my spouse but I've been in similar situations and have found that looking through some albums/pictures of the good times/travels helps to know we have truly lived and loved. Lost my wonderful niece at 16 and before she left us we looked through pictures and to this day, I still smile when I see the pictures of her driving my 37 pickup just two weeks before her time came. (through tears, but tears of gratitude for the years she was here.)
Sedgewick, Victoria and I hope you will find these things, are others, that will put things in a more positive light. You and your family, as well as hers, is on our prayer list. We care.

I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you smile

Not trying to be too morbid here, but the folks in hospice do wonders when it comes to pain control meds and just care in general. My wife works for the Mayo system in the hospice office here and tells me of all the good things they do. I would get them involved as soon as possible--don't wait till the very end. God's Blessings to both of you.

I would just add that ordinary wards in hospitals don't always do a great job of treating pain in some cases. I watched this with my brother last year and it was hard to take.

I'm so very sorry, Bill. Our hearts are heavy for the news. Prayers are offered to you and your sweetheart for strength, courage and comfort. None of us are ever really ready for this kind of thing. We never even think of it really... till it happens. I couldn't fathom to think of what I might do. God bless you and your family, sir. Jerry
