Hi all. My name is Mike and I am from Lynden Washington, way up on the Canadian border. I am the soon-to-be proud owner of a 1950 Chevy half ton. I am actually picking it up on Sunday. I am super excited to start working on this project with my young sons. I know I will be here quite a bit throughout the build picking everyone's brain and reading up on the forum.
As soon as I can I will post pictures of our new family member.

Welcome Mike. Good to be excited about it and even better to have your sons involved with it. Be sure to ask if you have questions, someone here will have the answer. Good luck!

Mike, welcome to the stovebolt. Had a 50 pickup back many years ago. I knew the man that bought it new. Wow, why didn't I hang onto that one? Being close to the border maybe you can check out the B.C. Bolters. There a good bunch of guys. Let us know how we can help by posting your questions in the garage forums and as Leo has pointed out, someone will have the answers. Good luck.

I grew up in Bellevue and moved north for school in the mid 90s and stayed. It was a bit calmer north of Bellevue.
Thanks everyone. I picked it up on Sunday. Just waiting to make sure the title transfers ok before I get too excited. I have plenty of options going through my head now.

Hi Mike. Welcome to the Bolt. Have you gone the Grant's Drive In in Lynden on Friday nights? I'm a B.C. Bolter. There is a new Truck club based out of Ferndale. Northwest Classic Trucks. That may interest you.I'm a member. Aug. 15th is the Whatcom All Truck Show 7135 Delta Line Road, Ferndale. I'll not be able to attend that one. Bricon [Bruce] on this site, is also a member of the club Boyd.

Thanks for letting me know. I am only a couple of miles from Grant's (ate there today after a boy scout activity). I will see if I can check out the truck show. It will be nice to meet local bolters.

Hello mike, from another Northwest Classic Trucks member and fellow Lynden occupier. I look forward to seeing your truck and maybe seeing you at Grant's Burgers on Fridays. I will be the one with the dark green '53 with the scratches and "patina". If there is anything I can help you with, let me know. I live off Vinup. I wish you well on your new project! I'd love to check out your truck.

Hi Mike, Nice to have you join Stovebolt. There is a wealth of information and experience available on this forum.
As Boyd ( BC52 ) mentioned, there is an " All Truck " show this coming Saturday, Aug. 15 in Ferndale - 7135 Delta Line Rd. Bring your boys by for the show and say hi to some of the local truck guys.

Hey there. I am off Vinup also. My backyard faces the High School football field. The truck is parked at my parent's place but should have it home in the next 2 weeks. I should have you over once I get it here for coffee or adult beverage and pick your brain over it.
Thanks for the warm welcome everyone.

I will try to make the show. It sounds pretty neat and would be a good time to meet local bolters. My parents don't live too far from there in Ferndale.

I'm gonna be a wimp and not go to Grant's tonight due to wetness, gotta wash the truck for tomorrow anyway. I will be at the show though.

Title transfer is complete. I went over to dad's today and did a couple of things to it. He really likes it as well and thought it would be great to have 3 generations work on the restoration on it. I am really looking forward to it. We are debating the first steps. It still has the 6 volt system in it and the wiring is pretty trashed. I am not even going to try to start it. If I can get the 235 to move I will probably keep it. If not I may upgrade. I have been thinking about the Ram Jet 350 for it with a 4 speed. I guess first step it to strip it down.

Glad to hear it is being a generational project. Are you going to bring the truck home.or leave it at your dad's house?

Hey, that's a nice looking project you got there. Be sure to keep us posted or start you a build thread in the DIY Forum which is a sub forum of this, the welcome center. That way you have a thread to add to and a good way for us to follow along. Good luck, we're here to help when you need it. See you around the Garage Forums.
