My 49 3100 has a 350 w/4 speed saginaw in front of an unknown rear axle assy that was under the truck when I bought it.Normal straight axle up front.I decided to lower the rear a little with 2" blocks and discovered I couldn't without removing the spring perches as it was not centered side to side. After I cut the old ones off and had new perches installed(welded)we can't put the U bolts back in the same holes as before. We were able to mount them back in the rearward position only. Will this be a disaster waiting o happen???

Can you take pictures? I don't understand what you're trying to describe.

Thanks for responding. The U bolts attach to a plate with 6 holes My question is in regard to the position of the plate fore or aft affecting the geometry of this suspension
