After having had my 235 6-cylinder rebuilt in 1987 I am in the process of the final reassembly which includes mounting the starter, generator, coil, and other similar items. Mounting bolts for these items have been misplaced or lost over the years. I also remembered finding the bracket, used to mount the generator, broken right at the front hole where the bracket bolts to the engine block just in front of the front engine mount. This had been weld-repaired (rough repair at best) by a previous owner, and I found it broken when I first removed the generator over 25 years ago.

Is there a manual, diagram, etc. that shows these mounting components, including brackets and nuts and bolts, including bolt/nut diameter and thread size that I can refer to so I used the right fastener for the correct application?

As always, your input and direction are welcome.

The Factory Assembly Manual gives a lot of fastener part numbers but you'll need a Bill of Material to determine the fastener sizes & types. I seem to remember that stuff being posted here one about 1-2 years ago. Try doing search for it and hopefully someone saved it and could send it to you.

Do not use bolts longer than necessary. Seems like too long of a bolt on the coil bracket will hit a push rod or something.

I went to ALOT of trouble. A LOT of trouble, learning the different sizes, styles and working of all of the fasteners on an AD. I did all of this research so that I could replace every single fastener with Stainless Steel. Not that its better in all respects. It has the advantage of not being a coating, but being 100% stainless thus no rust and no corrosion. If you do this, be warned there is about 4 types of Stainless that span from grade 2 to harder than grade 8. All of this was navigable due to a company Totally Stainless. Costs a lot more but the project I am working on nothing else is acceptable. It really pays to fully understand your needs. Don't use longer bolts than necessary, and make sure you have at least two threads sticking out beyond the nut. There are websites that explain the engineering aspects of fasteners. A little research goes a long way!

Deve, we've all become aware that you are extremely meticulous
and as you've just posted, went to a LOT of trouble learning
the different sizes, styles and workings of all the fasteners
on an AD. Which indicates to me that unless you've committed it
all to memory, you must have made a list. So.... as the man
from Raleigh was asking, could you post it? I'm sure that a lot
of people would like to see one, and once you post it here,
it's here forever where everyone can refer to it. Thanks

Dave, I'm not sure but seems like Larry Kephart posted a list
like that in the adventures of Billy Bob series.
Maybe that's what you're thinking of.

Yeah, Larry is better at documenting stuff we can actually use than me. My fastener list is stalled at the chassis since that's where I am at right now. At the end, I will pull all of the receipts and put together a list.
