While most of my young friends are cowering in their basements playing Xbox and Playstation I am looking for projects that I may, or may not, be able to financially support.

My name is Austin and I have for a long time drooled over the old stovebolts and ford 2 ton trucks. Not quite sure why. Most kids stare at fast porshes and dream haha.

Well, in my quest to trade my beloved farmall H for a stovebolt I threw an ad on craigslist to see if I got any bites. I did, but not something I was expecting. A guy offered me a 1948 Federal 25M in trade. I had never seen nor heard of a federal so I inquired for pictures. He said he would send some and in a few minutes they appeared in my inbox.

Suffice to say that in a few weeks time I will be the new owner of a downtrodden Federal 25M firetruck with 5k on it.

Now I know what you all are saying, "Its not a stovebolt, so it doesnt belong here." and I agree. But out of all the places I have found on the web this forum seems to be the most active out of all of them and holds way more collective knowledge and figured some of you fellas could tell me what I got and how to go about fixing what is wrong (the list is quiet long...)

And for those out there wondering what I mean by young... Im 17 and collecting old Iron haha

Welcome Austin, I don't know much about them. A truck that old with only 5k on it should be good for some more miles. Good luck, hope you can find out what you need to know.

Austin, you can only imagine who thrilled we are to see more young folks take up the habit, or become infested with the disease.
Congrats on your find. I can't think of a single stovebolter that would not love to have a Federal.

our group is very diversified. I'd be surprised it there is no one here that can't help you. Just be patient and visit often as not everyone visits everyday.... so you have to catch some of them when they drop in.

I also suspect you may find a lot of help in the BIG BOLT Forum. I'm sure Federal has a lot in common with lots of other trucks.

Cambridge about a mile from 65. I see your from janesville. Haha Have no idea where that is but I dont go out of the county often.

We're about 20 miles East of Mankato on Highway 14.
I see you've also got a couple old Farmalls. I've got a shed full of tractors (17 to be exact) in various stages of repair. Two of them are H's, most of the rest are either green or Prairie Gold.
Again, it's good to have you here. Not sure how many Federal experts are here, but a lot of the old truck stuff isn't that much different from one brand to the next.

It looks like a great truck and a good project choice. Keep us posted on your progress, take lots of pictures. When you are done you will have a special and rare vehicle.
