1967 Chevrolet K20 Suburban (slightly modified) 1-120 built

o What is the truck?
1967 Chevy K20 (4WD) Suburban.

o Where/how/When did you find it? Describe the circumstances.
I was looking for a replacement vehicle for my 96 Jeep ZJ. I initially was looking for a 67-72 Blazer, but they are worth their weight in $5.00 silver coins.
I perused the local marketplace and saw this gem for sale locally. The price didn't look too bad, but little did I know that the interior had essentially been stripped.

o What obstacles, if any, did you have to overcome to buy it, move it, or otherwise become the new owner?
Mrs. Rod was very reluctant to let me buy the truck; so I guilted her into in it by telling her I needed another 4WD vehicle. "Do you want me to crash in the snow and die"?

o What is the history of the truck? Anything particularly of note?
Many parts were previously removed, if there was supposed to be a gonkulator there, it was missing. However, there were only 120 K20 Suburbans built in 1967.

o What was the condition of truck when you found it?
Horrible. Mainly, it was missing a fender, seats (the seller was kind enough to toss in a raggedy pickup seat), and as previously noted a lot of small parts.
It is rusty as well, but it goes with my nick name.
The 275 HP 327 is out of a 68 Chevelle or Nova, it had not been molested inside. But was pretty wore out, not to mention a light rod knock.

o What have they done to/with/for it so far?
I have collected most of the parts to put it back together. Inspected most of the important parts like the brakes, ect.
Refreshed the 327. It is back in and running good now.
Busted a lot of rust, but still have a ways to go.
Cleaned and painted the front clip. Hosed the rest of the body with white primer. Cleaned and painted the interior.

o Plan for the truck?
I would like for it to be my daily driver at some point.

o What drew you to this style, size, year truck? Why *this* truck?
I was "boltless" for several years after selling my 39 Chevy. But I did have an International C1 with a heartbeat.
I wanted an older truck, but not too old. I've always liked the 67-72's as well. My family vehicle in high school was a 67 C10.

Jeff, I have been following your build, but do not recall it being such a rare truck. Extra cool. thumbs_up Back in the early 70's a friends Dad had a '67 or 68 Suburban. I always thought it was cool. I was thinking that it had a 307 with a 3 on the tree, and don't believe it had 4 wheel drive. One thing that I always thought was odd were it having 3 doors instead of 4. Now I think it's unique.

Congratulations for being the 1st to post in the New '67-72 Gallery.

New to the Stovebolt forums. My name is Harold Lord. I own a 1967 GMC Super Custom with a 305E V-6 which I've owned since the 90's. Restored it shortly after I purchased it, but did not paint it. It is the original Dk.Green with original Lt. Green interior. Rebuilt the motor, new suspension parts, added factory power steering, power brakes, GM Wonder Bar AM/FM Radio etc. Drove the truck 10047000 miles including a trip to Ketchican Alaska.
Slow forward to present, In 2017 the engine spun a rod bearing so I'm pulling the motor soon to repair it. I will be looking for engine parts after measurements to determine the parts needed. I also have a access to a Mr. Goodwrench 350 casting # 2MO2288VP but I really like the 305 V-6, so much torque. I'm one of those keep it original types, har har.Thanks for this great website.
