Meet Pig, my 1954 3100

In the mid 80’s, my buddy drove one. I wanted one ever since. About 26 years, I finally bought one. The namesake comes from removing about 20 lbs of crud out of the cab.

Upon hauling Pig home, I squirted ATF into the spark plug holes, letting it soak for a few days. Meanwhile, we made the 12 v conversation. The motor rotated by hand, so we stuck the fuel line into a gas can. After 25 years, Pig spit many acorns out the tailpipe, but ran! A few oil and tranny leaks, but no excessive oil burning or smoking. The carb was shot, so I installed dual 2 bl webers and fenton dual exhaust. Other than these mods, Pig is stock, even with the 4 speed hydramatic! It runs great! Since owning Pig, we’ve won Best Driver and Pif was in an insurance commercial.

Fast forward, I was diagnosed with Young onset Parkinson’s and had to retire early. I recently made a very difficult decision to modernize Pig. It was getting more difficult for me to drive and traffic is too fast for a stock 1954 pickup. So I purchased a perfectly running 2002 s10 with 61k miles, 4.3l, AT....and then ripped the thing apart to begin the transformation. Since I can no longer weld, I purchased a Code 504 conversion kit. My son almost has the frame ready to for the 54 body. I went through the S10 wiring harnesses, leaving only what what I think it will need to run, plus a few accessories. I plan on modifying the 54 steering column to keep the interior looking stock, except AC.

Later this year, we hope to have a cool daily driver that my wife can drive when I cannot. Wish us luck!

Deluxe cab and a wrap around rear bumper. thumbs_up Once you get it mounted on the S10 frame, it'll be "Super Deluxe". I've done some research on Code 504, I think you made the right decision to utilize their expertise. It'll save you a lot of time.

Good luck and let us know when you get it back on the road.

Nice looking 54. We do what we have to do to keep our butt in the drivers seat.
