The wreaths above -- some 5,000 -- are donated by the Worcester Wreath Company of Harrington, Maine. The owner, Merrill Worcester, not only provides the wreaths, but covers the trucking expense as well. He's done this since 1992. A wonderful guy. Also, most years, groups of Maine school kids combine an educational trip to Washington, DC with this event to help out. Making this even more remarkable is the fact that Harrington is in one the poorest parts of the state.

Looking at Stovebolts month after month
We just finished the Second Edition of the 2007 Stovebolt Calendar. So far, there are three to choose from. (We still will put together the IRWIPI calendar and a working bolts one.)

Tech Tips! | Ahh ... Christmas Spirit
You've tossed the original 3-speed in favor of a more modern manual tranny with more gears (and more speed!), but it seems like you're reaching all the way across Kansas to get to 5th gear! Here's John Sandoval with an easy mod -- save your bucks -- don't go to the speed shop for one of those high-dollar fancy short-throw shifters! You already have everything you need to... |

The Three Soldiers Statue Raffle For those of you who might have missed it in last month's News page, Jake "Modelman" Groby has been kind enough to donate The Three Soldiers Statue that he built. The statue measures 14" high, 10" wide and about 4" deep. For each dollar donated to the site until the end of the year, the donor gets one chance. Check the details from the November News page, including a sidebar about The Three Soldiers statue itself. And the NEW news is that Jake has puit together an additional statue so we'll have two winners! Awesome -- thank you Jake!

A reminder about posting pictures in the forums.
You may have noticed, we are trying to include more pictures in the Gallery submissions, but even in there, we are using links to the pictures (which are larger), so that it will help out ... for those same reason. A side benefit for you post then, is that you can post a link to as big a picture as you like and it won't affect the rest of the posts in that thread! Thanks for your cooperation! Thanks, |
We seem to get a lot of hunting in the forums for "other message boards." Sometimes begging "Please start one for Dodge trucks!" Lovers of old iron, be it GM or some other type , we figured we'd include such lists (of good forums) on the Truck Sites link. Darin367 and Charles in CA came up with some F-Q-R-D sites to help the nephew of Jeff Nelson. So, if you know of some, send them in. We've got a few for starters (we lost all our others in the computer whip out).
Pakrat48 came up with a question about identify PPG Paint codes and came up with the PPG Auto Refinish site. Denny Graham said he's gonna study the site a bit. (Maybe he can come up with a helpful Tech Tip on it!)
Sorry for the down-time and a big Thank you for your support Sorry that HQ lost all com with everyone. It was terrible (on our end.) We know a little about how stressful it is when the server is down, but our Stovebolt Geek sweats all that our by himself. This time it was our computer at HQ, and it was a mess. But thanks to some helpful Bolters (and some neaty computer magic by Zipper), we are back in the info biz. Stovebolts Forever! (Yea, yea ... and back-up too!) A big thanks, yet again, to those who continue to support this site. Contributions for December:

I am an American citizen that has lived in Santa Cruz, Bolivia for the last 12 years. After buying my 1939 Chevy JC Pickup truck, I surfed the net looking for information about it. I encountered a wealth of data on old Chevy trucks. Previous to this, I hadn't considered that the old Chevys had such a following. Thanks to this purchase, I have met several fine people over the net and have received an enormous amount of advice, help to find vendors, and technical tips. It seems that quite a family of Stovebolters has formed around the world. It's funny, but when I bought my truck several Bolivians asked me why I had bought an old junky truck. But after showing them pictures of restored trucks on the internet, they were astounded at the beauty of the the restored trucks. It's already been quite an experience for me and I am sure I will continue with this. In fact, it has come to my attention that Bolivia is an excellent hunting ground for old Chevy trucks, because many were imported over the years. Ken Pulis |
