From Rob:

I finally got an old photo of my '51 Chevy pickup.

I introduced myself to William Powell, the former owner now deceased, after seeing it sitting in his driveway. At that time, he was in his 80's. He was the second owner and owned it for some 30+ years. Anyway, we became friends and we drove the truck to car shows and some local, short, fun trips. He was willing to sell it to me but we agreed that I would become the next owner after he could enjoy it no more. He wanted to be convinced I would give it a good home and not customize it.

Upon his death, I purchased it from his estate and have enjoyed it as a weekend driver - trips to the dump or local hardware store, etc. It had been so well maintained. Mr. Powell stated near the end, "I'd drive it to Alaska tomorrow once I get the brakes checked."

I keep it at my 1750's log cabin in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia.

Thanks for your wonderful site and for providing nut cases like me a chance to communicate and exchange info.

Thanks,

Rob also has a great looking 1938 Dodge Brothers pick up in our Alternative Gallery. ~~ Editor
