From Larry:

Here is a picture of our 1957 Chevy 3800 "doing what it does". We are loading firewood to take to my dad.

We have owned and used this truck for two years. We were looking for a good solid truck. I am glad we chose it instead of a new one. It is a pleasure to drive and easy to maintain and repair. Not to mention the "thumbs up" and looks we get on the road.

As the story goes, it was a farm truck in Dahlonega, Georgia until a few years ago. The truck is a '57 3800 (one ton) with 9-foot bed and single wheels. It has the original 235 and 4-speed transmission with parking brake on back.

Upgrades to date include: 4.57:1 rear "chunk" from a 68? 3/4-ton to replace the original 5.14:1. Wow what a difference. Now top speed is near 60! New brakes all around with new dual chamber master cylinder conversion. GM HEI ignition from a late model truck.

The truck is mechanically sound, now time for body work and cosmetic repairs (no rush though).

Thanks for being there for so many of us. Your web site is not only a great wealth of knowledge, but very entertaining as well.
