A Cool Old Truck

Tony Sloan's

1961 Chevy 1/2-ton

1 March 2002

From Tony:

This is my 1961 custom Chevy 1/2 ton pick up. I got it from my dad about a few months ago. When he gave it to me it had a small block 327 in it. We recently purchased a "doner truck" from a friend: a 1977 Chevy Silverado with a 350 four bolt main in it. The original owner of the '77, the friend that we bought it from, kept the oil changed in it every 3,000 miles, and had it rebuilt not to long ago with no bore modifications. So it should be a really nice engine to bolt right in.

My 1961 (pictured) has a 400 turbo trany in it, and a 4 11 posi rear end. The front end of the truck is not the original (the hood and the grille assembly). It has also had a power steering column added to it.

I plan on doing a ground up restoration on my truck. I think it will make a nice school truck until then.
