From Scott,

I have been involved in a a project to benefit the American Cancer Society called "10,000 Miles for a Cancer Cure." It involves driving a stock equipped 1952 Chevy half ton pickup across the nation to the top of Alaska in Summer of 2000.

My Dad lost his struggle with cancer in 1998, so in his memory, I'll be driving the same 1952 pickup we restored just after my high school graduation. Prior to that drive, the Chevy (named "Shelley") will be on tour at car shows and fund raisers, promoting the cause of fighting one of the most feared diseases imaginable.

Any ideas you could give about getting folks involved would be welcome. Friends have suggested starting a convoy of classic vehicles, but I don't think most old car drivers have the patience to follow a Stovebolt to Alaska!! However, a collection of vintage Chevy trucks at 45 mph would get media coverage and help raise cancer awareness at the same time.

Thanks so much for your consideration.

Sincerely,
Scott G. Sensing
