From Dennis :
Hi! I thought I would add my truck to the Gallery. When I moved from Pennsylvania to Oregon, I sold a '51 1/2-ton GMC that I had restored myself. I regretted selling that truck. (I found one photo of it.) I built it from three farm trucks I found in my neighborhood. All had past farm lives in Pennsylvania. I chose the one short bed frame and restored all the pieces one by one. I used the one 248 engine. The only thing not original was a new wiring harness, some glass and the tail lights. It wasn't a show truck. I used it regularly to haul hay, firewood and landscaping supplies. It hauled every piece of wood that went into the donkey barn in the photo. I learned to drive on one just like it that my dairy farmer uncle Stanley owned. I am really sorry I sold it when I moved to oregon. Thanks in advance for including it in the gallery along with my '41 Chevy.)
Soon after settling in my new coastal town of Neskowin, a perfect slow little village for an old truck, I found this all steel, original color (Swifts red) 1941 Chevy in Colorado and could not resist it. The restorer of this truck was a great body man and painter but not so good at mechanics.
I currently have the transmission out to replace the chattering clutch. I am also replacing the motor mounts, water pump, starter, carburetor and tidying up the neglected engine compartment. From the smell of it, I think the oil in the rear and trans was original also.
The original engine had been changed to a '54 261. I love the torque. Also, it has an alternator with a 12-volt electrical system. It's a three speed on the floor.
Thanks for the great info on your sight.
