A Cool Old Truck

Pete Piotroski's

1946 Chevy CK 1/2-Ton

21 September 04

From Pete:

I'm 63 years young and recently purchased this truck from a friend of mine (74 years young) who is busy working on his 1948 F**d pickup. He is some what of a local character and I say that lovingly.

Most of the work he did himself and I couldn't stand the thought of this truck not being around so it now resides in my garage. I use it for hauling my RC planes to from the flying field and local summer shows and events.

A little about the rebuild - 16k miles ago, it was torn down and chassis/running gear rebuilt from the ground up. The engine is a F**d 289 coupled to a C4 automatic. The chassis came from Martz Chassis Engineering in PA. Disc brakes up front and drum in the rear, calipers are GM S-10. Heating/air conditioning is by Vintage Air; radiator is Walker Cobra Cool Mate; wiring by Ron Francis Wire Works; and Lokar cables and shifter.

The body and box are original with new oak and stainless bed, running boards are 'glass. Seats are Mustang buckets, tilt steering by GM, gauges are Classic Instruments, Inc., hardware and exhaust are stainless. Since the pic's new filler panels between the bed/body/rear fenders have been installed. Paint is hand rubbed lacquer and as my friend says "done to sorta look like the original ... the red is my own creation with a little pearl thrown in."

Thanks and keep up the great site.

Regards,

Pete Piotroski
