From Lenny:

This here truck was the first truck purchased for the Parkertown Fire Department. It is a 1949 GMC 250 engine, 6 cylinder. As a member of the company, this truck sat in a building for 15 years and not used. I took the bull by the horn and had it looked at.

The mechanical work was done by George and his crew from Parkertown Tire in Little Egg Harbor NJ. The paint job, which is an excellent job, was done by John and crew at Streamline Auto in Little Egg Harbor.

We took it to a fire parade and won second prize for best antique.

Oh, by the way, it does have a name. It's called "My Baby" -- same year I was born.

And if you are wondering who the lady is in the picture that's Amy Thompson. I keep on telling her that this is going to be her first truck when she gets her license. Kids these days don't really know what a real machine is good for. If anyone wants any more information, please feel free to email me!

Lenny first contacted us looking for parts for the '49. They were trying to get the truck "back in shape." Looks like they've done a most outstanding job! And if you are wondering who the handsome man is in the picture -- thaaaaat's Lenny! ~~ Editor
