From Mark :
Hello and thanks for a great grass-roots site !!
I live in suburbia, near the city of Durban on the east coast of South Africa. I am a petrol head (a passion shared with my late father) and into 1950’s hot rodded trucks and 1960’s muscle cars.
I first saw a tri-five at a gas station some years back and it blew me away. I had been searching for about two years when I got a call from a workshop selling the truck on behalf of the owner and it was love at first sight ! So here I am! I have owned this truck [ rear picture ] for about four years now. She doesn’t have a name yet but her license plate is 57 – ZN (Kwazulu Natal Province).
Details on this Chevy Task Force truck as follows :
- 1957 Stepside small window
- Motor – 350 ci
- Demon 725cfm carb
- Polished air gap intake
- Usual bling (pulleys , valve covers , etc.)
- Drivetrain – Jaguar front clip including IFS / disc brakes / power steering
- Rear Ford 9” with disc brakes
- Turbo 350
Wheels – 20” all round (yes, with some front clearance issues)
- Body – No mods, colour as purchased (not for long )
- Interior – 2 racing seats [ pix ] , custom centre console including third seat
Suspension
- Front lowered + stiffened
- Rear inverted + stiffened leaf springs
I don’t have any history information on the truck, but it must have lived most of its life inland on a farm, as there is minimal rust.
The truck is a work in progress and I am getting all the engineering done (bit by bit) before a complete strip down and paint.
This truck has been my daily driver ever since purchased and if I told you what I loaded in it, I think you would banish me from your site forever!!
Regards,
Mark Ovenstone
