From Frank:

Here are some pics of "Clifford the Big Red Dump Truck" (with apologies to Public Television's kid's show "Clifford the Big Red Dog") my '55 First Series 4400 dump truck. It is a well-treated one-owner truck -- originally owned by Cherundolo Construction of Old Forge, Pennsylvania.

The truck was built at the Broening Highway plant in Baltimore and is outfitted with a Galion 10 foot dump body. The hoist is run off the PTO.

Presently, it shows 31,000 miles on the odometer. General wear marks around the cab suggest that it is probably 131,000 but not over 200,000.

          The engine is a 1954-'55 235, probably a replacement -- it's painted black. It also has SM-420 four-speed, single-speed rear, Hydro-vac brake booster.

Truck was in faded juniper green livery when I got it in 2002. The firewall and door pillars are all RED (factory), so we freshened it up with some Rust-Oleum "OSHA-Red" for now.

Future plans may include actually putting it back to work! So far, the brakes have been completely rebuilt (except for the booster). My first Big Bolt -- to keep my Grandad's '54 3600 pick-up company.

Regards,

Frank McMullen
