06 July 2008 Update
# 2140

From Kerry :

This is my first update since I posted my truck last December. I have done several things since then.

I now ride around on new chrome rally’s 10 inch deep on the back and 8 inch deep on the front. I painted her metallic black with white racing stripes. Some chrome trim.

I also installed a really nice stereo system. The bench seat was perfect for turning into a speaker box underneath -- great sound and no visible speakers. It was ideal for the limited space.

I still have lots to do. I will update again soon I hope.

From Kerry :

I found this 1966 Chevrolet C-10 Stepside Shortbed truck [ pix ] behind a used car lot. I purchased it for $1,400. [ Side view]

The truck has a Chevy 305 V-8 (89,000 k), New Holley 650 carburetor with an aluminum highrise intake, headers and Flowmasters. It is a three speed on the floor with a Hurst Shifter.

I am getting her ready to be painted but cannot decide what color to go with. The bed has a diamond cut steel plate welded in place of the original wood panels.

I plan on lots of customizing in the very near future.

Clint Eastwood has a truck just like your's that he used in the movie series Every which way but loose -- the one's with Clyde the orangutan. His truck was a pale yellow. Hard to choose the right color. Keep us updated on your progress. Great choice in trucks. It always pays to check out the back lot, doesn't it! Good score. ~~ Mike "burgandybolt" Allen, Stovebolt Welcome Panel Wagon
