1961 Chevy Apache SS

Owned by

From Mark :

Here are a few snapshots of my 1961 and a half Apache SS. The truck has been in the family since the early 1980's. I purchased it from my Uncle in 1989. I drove it a few years and then decided to restore it. After 10 years of blood, sweat and tears (not to mention a few fowl words!), I got it on the road July 5, 2003. I have been enjoying it ever since and taking it to many shows.

Here are some of the modifications I've done:

  • One piece glass front that took one year to get it to fit
  • Shaved tail gate chains with hidden latches and cables
  • Air-ride on all four corners
  • ZZ 4 crate motor
  • Richmond 5 speed
  • 308 gears
  • Weld rims
  • General tires on front Hosier, 29-15.5-15's on the rear under widened factory wheel wells.
  • Filled seams on box
  • Frenched in power antenna where fuel fill neck used to be
  • Painted it myself. Outside color 703A Neptune Green -- factory color for this truck. The interior color is 63 exterior dove gray.

These are just a few of the many things I have done to this truck.

Thanks to family and friends for their help.
